The waiting is over…

I arrived home from work early today to find that I had one of those red tickets from the Postman to say that he’d tried to deliver a parcel. That could only mean one thing – that the Internet Camera that I had bid for on eBay back at the beginning of the month, [...]

MSN have a beta version of the popular MSN Messenger available for download.
One of the cool new features allows you to set your online status before you login. This enables you to see who’s online before others know you’ve logged in.

Band Aid 20

When the third version of the Band Aid Single Do They Know It’s Christmas was first played I absolutely hated it.. It wasn’t a patch on the original that was recorded twenty years ago (has it really been that long? Gawd I’m getting old!). The original is a classic and I felt that [...]

Bejeweled 2

I downloaded Bejeweled 2 last night to try out on my Pocket PC. I have been highly addicted to the original Bejeweled which I have on both my Pocket PC and Orange C500.
I was very doubtful that the original game could be improved upon so I was pleasantly surprised to find otherwise. I really [...]

Bizarre Coincidence

Not really related to anything, but thought that this was a bizarre coincidence.
It would appear that two Coast Guard helicopters crashed yesterday; one off of Cornwall here in the UK, the other off of Alaska’s Aleutian Islands. Both were on rescue missions at the time.
Sadly in both cases the crews are missing.

Orange Synchronisation Companion

I quite often access my Orange Email from a web browser when I am not at home. This is very handy as Orange send me Text Messages to my mobile to say that I have new email in my account.
This is all well and good for reading new emails, but is more of an [...]

Sims 2

While I was in the USA back in September I treated myself to a copy of the much anticipated Sims2 that had just been released.
On arriving home to the UK, there were a couple of new things that I knew that I needed to get so that I could play my new purchase. Firstly my [...]

DCS-5300w

As I mentioned earlier in the year I have been toying with the idea of getting myself a wireless internet camera so that I can keep an eye on my dog when I am at work.
I had intended to get one when I was on holiday to the USA in September as prices are so [...]

Keyhole

I was looking at the Google Tools page to see what’s new, when I spotted a link called Keyhole. Intrigued, I had to follow…
It would appear that Keyhole have been acquired by Google, to add to their exisitng purchases of Blogger and Picasa.
After downloading the 7-day trial you are presented with a rather neat [...]

For those of you who can record video on your mobile and are of a creative nature, you might wanna take a look at the Orange Paper Film Festival site.
Use your mobile to create a 60 second movie, using themed characters which you can either download and print off from the website or get from [...]

Harsh!

Poor ole Jenneth of jenneth.info is the latest person to be targeted by the looney publisher of MSMobiles.
I find his bizarre style of writing very entertaining – Only in the way that he randomly lashes out at various people and companies… As far as the quality of his publishing goes – I take it [...]

SPAM – Get your own back!

Lycos have come up with an ingenious idea to combat SPAM – a screensaver!
The idea is that the screensaver constantly requests data from the spammers websites that the emails are intended to lure you too. The point of this exercise is to put load on the web servers and increase web traffic in a [...]

Free copy of XP

Microsoft are offering free copies of its XP operating system to people who believe that their version is counterfeit.
They are trialling the scheme in the UK and are using the information that they gather from the excercise to target illegal traders of its operating system.
Is this good or bad? I can’t yet decide..

The 4400

Just watched The 4400 on Sky Mix. I saw this trailered a while ago, but had forgotten all about, only because I was channel hopping tonight did I see that it was about to start….
Having been a big X-Files fan, this is the kinda programme that would grab my attention.. There were a [...]

Comments are Working!

Now that I have reverted back to the default MT 3.0 Templates, comments are now working properly using TypeKey.
NO MORE COMMENT SPAM!!! – YEAH!
Please feel free to post your comments…

Changes to nechbi.com

You will have noticed that igadgetlife.com has changed a bit since you last looked.
Since I updated the site to MT 3.121, I thought that it was best that I brought all my templates in-line with the new code. The easiest way to do this was to reset them all back to the MT defaults.
Hopefully [...]

The VCR – RIP?

I heard on the radio this morning that Dixons will stop selling video recorders from the end of the year. It takes me back to the time when WHSmith were the first to say they were no longer going to sell vinyl records.
I can understand that DVD’s have been a huge success over the [...]

Malicious code on Nokia 7610

Looks like some owners of Nokia 7610 mobiles have downloaded software that replaces the system menus with skulls and disables access to applications locking out the user.
The software, believed to be a new wallpaper/theme was available on file-sharing networks.
Is this the shape of things to come, now that our phones are getting smarter?

Faster Broadband..

Today my home Broadband connection has been upped from 512kb to 1mb!
Now I will be able to surf at super-fast speeds..
While on the subject of broadband, I got so fed-up with my Linksys Wireless Network Adapter dropping its connection all the time, I replaced it with a Belkin PCI Wireless Adapter. I’ve had [...]

MT Update

I have just updated my site to the version 3.121 of Movable Type. Amazingly this time the update went smoothly, unlike previous upgrades.
I also intend to get commenting working properly using TypeKey. I had turned commenting off entirely some weeks ago because of I was fed-up with the vast amount of comment spamming!
To [...]

I’m Still here…

As you will probably have noticed things have been a bit quiet on the site for quite some time now.. My last proper post was before I set-off on my big adventure to the US of A. The holiday was just amazing (I hope to post more about that at a later date). [...]

I’m Back!!

I got back from my trip to the US last night.. I had an amazing time there – I didn’t wanna come home..
I have lots to catch up with over the weekend, so hopefully I’ll be back up and posting again as normal in the next few days….

Todays the day!

Well it is now 11pm and I have 4 hours until I catch the coach to London for
my flight to San Francisco. The house is a tip as I finish off the last
bits of packing.
I am currently loading my 512mb Mini SD card with loads of music. I already
have two movies on it [...]

September 11th 2001

I’m sure there is no one who can forget where they were on September 11th 2001 – when news started to break of the terror that struck the City of New York.

I just can’t believe that 3 years have passed already!
I can remember being sat at my desk at work, when one of my colleagues [...]

CoPilot Live

It would seem that the area of GPS Navigation for MS Smartphones is hotting up as ALK Technologies have announced CoPilot Live Smartphone.

Mini SD – Max Storage

My 512mb Mini Secure Digital Card arrived today, in plenty of time for me to stuff it full of movies and music..
It even came with a convertor so that the card can be used in devices that use standard SD cards.

TomTom Goes Mobile

After seeing one of my friends using his Pocket PC with GPS in his car a month or so ago, I have been toying with the idea of getting one myself. I already have an iPAQ 4150 and have been looking into purchasing a Bluetooth GPS system to go with it. At the moment [...]

C500 Mini-SD card

Well I finally bit the bullet and ordered a 512mb Mini SD Card for my C500. I have been hunting around for a good price for ages, but don’t think that I’m gonna get one for less than 90 quid! (ouch).
I was gonna plump for the 256mb card, but as my trip to the [...]

Site Monitoring

Just when I thought that all was well with my site – it has been unavailable for most of the day again! WTF!
Looks like it might be a premium rate call after all….
So I decided to look into site monitoring tools and found a great free service called SiteUptime that will alert you by [...]

It’s Back….

Well I am finally back up and running again after my site decided to go AWOL last weekend. I have no idea what happened, as I am not getting a response from my hosting company. I’ve had no replies to my emails and I refuse to dial a premium rate number to Tech Support [...]

Post from my PPC

Well here I am sprawled out on my sofa with dog on lap. I have been playing with my iPAQ 4150 tonight as I felt that it had been neglected recently after the recent addition of my SPV C500!
After a spot of surfing I thought that I’d see if I could write a post [...]

C500 Bluetooth Hell

What a nightmare it has been trying to set-up my C500 to Activesync over Bluetooth. I have had my phone a week, and have only just now got the darn thing working!
I was able to pair the device quite easily – but do you think I could get it to sync? No, I tried all [...]

3 Weeks to go….

I now only have 3 weeks to go until my big adventure to the West Coast of America. It seems ages ago when I booked it way back in February.
I am flying out to San Francisco as the first stop on my adventure, spending 5 days there, then flying over to Las Vegas for another [...]

MPx220 Review

Howard Forums have a jam full review of the much talked about Motorola MPx220.
The handset features a Texas Instruments Dual Core Processor that is faster than an equivalent 400mhz Xscale processor found in current Pocket PC’s! Due to this it has the potential to support 802.11g wireless should a compatible mini SD card become available.
Should [...]

Cheaper Broadband

The broadband price war continues with Wanadoo (formerly Freeserve) offering 1Mb broadband for £17.99 a month.
The product does come with restrictions of 2GB a month downloads, but these will not be enforced until later next year. A 6GB download limit is also available for £23.99 a month.
Keep those prices falling!

C500 Images

I have had my Orange SPV C500 for 3 days now and can honestly say that I am very pleased with my rather rash decision to have one! It is just so much faster and responsive than my previous SPV e100. This is how Smartphones should be!
The image quality of the camera pictures is [...]

I’ve got a C500!

I popped into town lunchtime today and thought that I’d just nip into my local Orange Shop to take a look at this much talked about Orange SPV C500. There was the dummy handset on its display shelf just begging to be looked at. A couple of moments later a very helpful Orange [...]

The C500 has landed!

The day that you have all been waiting for – the Orange SPV C500 is now available in your local Orange Shop!
Handsets appear to be flying out the doors quick, so get down there if you want one! I myself cannot decide whether to go for the C500 or wait until the Motorola MPx220 [...]
