Death of the CD Single?

Top UK retailer WHSmith has announced that it is going to stop selling CD Singles. Could this be an indication that the industry is changing?

File sharing website Napster was the first site to have a big impact on the way that music was available free over the internet. This of course was closed and KaZaA launched to claim its title as most popular p2p network.

Here in the UK Broadband access has surged and so has the ability to download music much faster..

A few companies such as Apple have cashed in very successfully on the MP3 market and offered legimate downloads at low prices for devices such as their iPod with its iTunes service.

Is it no wonder that the CD Single has taken a battering?

I remember not so long ago when WHSmith were the first company to stop selling vinyl records….
