WiFi Toys
As my broadband access is imminent - I have been looking into things that I can use on my wireless net connection. One of them is a wireless webcam.
As my dog is home-alone for most of the day while I’m at work - I thought that it would be nice to use this new technology to check to see if he is ok and also see what he actually gets up to all day!
There are a couple of internet cameras that have caught my eye both from D-Link - firstly we have the DCS-900w which is a basic wireless webcam that connects directly to the internet as it has its own webserver (no PC required). The webcam is static and limited in features but is reasonable priced.

On the other-hand there is the DCS-5300w which has so much more; It has a built in microphone, motion detection and the webcam has a pan & tilt facility which can be controlled remotely. You can also program it to patrol 20 set positions - How cool is that? I think that this is the preferred option, but it is more than twice the price of the DCS-900w!

I’ll have to keep checking eBay to see if I can snap one up cheap!
