Keyhole

I was looking at the Google Tools page to see what’s new, when I spotted a link called Keyhole. Intrigued, I had to follow…

It would appear that Keyhole have been acquired by Google, to add to their exisitng purchases of Blogger and Picasa.

After downloading the 7-day trial you are presented with a rather neat mapping application that lets you zoom in from space to street level. At the moment the product is very US focused - but it did enable me to zoom in on places that I stayed and visited during my trip to the USA back in September.

There are data layers that provide info on Schools, Transport, Bars, Coffee Shops etc.. You can right-click an item and perform a Google Search on it. Although very basic at the moment - I can see where Google are going with this.

One neat thing with this mapping tool is that you can don’t have to view the map directly from above; you can tilt the whole view through 90 degrees. It also shows the 3D terrain.

An Annual license is required of $29.95, which has been slashed from $69.95 on acquisition by Google…

Definitely worth a download and a play with the trial.
