The waiting is over…

I arrived home from work early today to find that I had one of those red tickets from the Postman to say that he’d tried to deliver a parcel. That could only mean one thing - that the Internet Camera that I had bid for on eBay back at the beginning of the month, had finally made it across the pond to me! Yeah!

After nipping down to the local sorting office to collect it, I was soon back home setting it up… Didn’t take me long to get the thing up and running on my internal wireless network. Getting it to work over the Internet took a little more thought, but after opening up the required ports on my firewall, it all worked as expected.

Chatting to work colleagues via Messenger, who have kept asking when I was getting it, I was soon the focus of the office as they played in amazement at the fast video and remote control of the camera.

There is just so much to this camera; you can set-up presets to automatically swing the camera around to one of many specific points. You can set-up motion detection, which can either upload to a web server or email you the picture. You can also record video onto a VCR or PC.

But the best thing is that it’s wireless, and connects straight to the Internet!
