It’s that time of year when my mobile contract has come to an end - it’s time to get something new!
I have been keeping my eye on the latest Smartphones, as my last two mobiles have been SPV’s.. The new C550 was a possibility, but to be honest it isn’t any different from the C500 that I currently have. Although it has new music navigation buttons, I no longer use my mobile as an MP3 player as I have my iPod Mini. The only reason to go for this phone would be the improved camera.
Don’t get me wrong I am a big fan of MS Smartphones, but I do find the menuing system a tad naff and it can run slow sometimes causing a reboot which is ridiculously long for a mobile phone! Also now that I have moved to using a Mac at home, having an MS phone is no longer so important, so perhaps it may be time to look elsewhere?
One of the most important features that I want on a phone is a decent quality camera that is quick to use. I love taking snaps as you can see from my Textamerica site.
The next feature is being able to sync my work Outlook calendar & contacts to my phone, so that I always know what meetings I have scheduled and I like to have peoples contact information to hand. I have a terrible memory!
Other than that, as long as texting is easy and you can make the odd phone call or 12 (wow can they do that as well?) I’m not that bothered.

Orange SPV C550
Samsung D500
Sony Ericsson k750i
Nokia 6680
I did even consider switching networks if I found a good deal somewhere (sorry Orange) - although I would be weary doing this as signal on other networks is pretty pants where I live!
One of my colleagues has the Nokia 6680 - quite a nice phone, if a bit chunky. I had a play with the Samsung D500 & the K750i yesterday lunchtime - I really like the look of the D500, Its so light to hold - has a better camera (with flash) than my C500.. Then came the K750i - now this phone rocks, the camera is 2.0 mega pixel, has auto focus, flash and zoom.. I think that this is the one for me…
After a spot of research on the internet, I found that the K750i had received a load of rave reviews (here, here, and here) especially about its camera quality - this was looking like the favourite!
The deals in the shops suck, so I turned to the internet - found an amazing deal on Orange - a FREE K750i with 200 mins x-net for £4.99 a month - plus minutes doubled for 6 months - making that 400! You cant go wrong with a deal like that! It was crying out to be ordered!
Just gotta wait now as I believe that stocks are limited because of popularity!
