In the second part of my N95/N93i comparison I look at the video quality of the two handsets. Again the examples were taken on the same day as the photo comparison in Torquay back in early July. Although far from being scientific, the videos were taken at the same location within a minute or two of each other.
This first video was taken using the Nokia N93i, the Nokia handset that is sold as a mobile camcorder. It records impressive dvd-like video as you can see:
The second video was taken using my Nokia N95. Although not primarily a camcorder the video quality is still pretty remarkable and also manages dvd-like quality.
Again there really isn’t much in it between the two handsets, both take great video - certainly outstandingly so compared to the majority of handsets currently out there to buy. I do however feel a little disappointed with the quality of the video in the N93i compared to the N95. It was supposed to be the big selling point of the handset a ‘camcorder in your pocket’- but I felt that the image quality just wasn’t as crisp and clear as that of my N95. Looking at the video in its natural resolution 640×480 on my LCD TV the N93i video just seems washed out and blurrier compared.
For me when it comes to video I think that I’ll stick with my N95…
Tune in for my last part of this review where I will talk about the actual handset itself and how I felt about it.

Excellent review! I feel much the same about the N93i, I was expecting something a bit more . . . I don’t know, camcorder-ish I guess. If only they had managed to keep in the autofocus that the beta model had, or perhaps smoothed out the framerate - oh well, it all goes to show what a great allrounder the N95.
The N93 (not i) is probably the best mobile video device in Nokia’s range right now.

I feel that the videos show that the N93i is better.
The color balance, white balance, brightness and contrast seems much better in the N93i video than the N95.
The N95 may look a bit sharper, but I think the colors are much better in the N93i.
So I’m not sure if I would agree. Plus the N93i has the 3x optical zoom, which although is not much, it’s a very important feature as you can’t always get closer to the object. I think your review is extremely shallow.
