Nokia gets Kylie’s X - So what!?
Nokia have revealed that they have exclusively got the much anticipated new album by Kylie titled ‘X’ that will be available for download from the Nokia Music Store on Wednesday.

OK, it’s cool that Nokia managed to bag the album for it’s all-new music store 5 days before general release, but reading the small print, It’s not really that much of a deal..The album sells for £8, but is encoded with DRM in Micosoft’s WMA format. This is an issue for us Mac users as we have no way to play the files on our computers, as it is a PC only format.
Tracks are typically delivered in high quality 192Kbps audio in Windows Media Audio (WMA) format. You can easily transfer your purchased songs to your Nokia device using Windows Media Player or with the new Nokia Music PC client available next year.
If you can wait a whole 5 days, you can get a DRM-free version of the same album from iTunes for a penny less! EMI the guys behind Kylie have been releasing content in iTunes Plus format, which is DRM-free and encoded at a higher 256kbps instead of the standard 128kbps, which is even higher than the Nokia Music Store’s 192kbps encoded.
Of course it isn’t just the Kylie album that this point relates to but highlights the fact that Nokia are excluding Mac users from the Music Store.
Which would you rather have?
