Apple Store Princesshay, Exeter - Opens

The new Apple Store in Exeter in the recently built Princesshay Shopping Quarter opened it’s doors for the first time this morning. This now brings the number of UK Apple Stores to 13, unlucky for some - but lucky for us Brits in the South West of the UK!

Of course I was armed with my Nokia N95 to capture some pictures of the first hour of business:

With queues already snaking away from the Store at 9am, some people had obviously arrived early to be one of the first through the doors. Greeted by cheers from enthusiastic staff as soon you enter, the first 1,000 (including myself) were lucky enough to receive a boxed Apple T-Shirt.

After having recently been in the UK Flagship Store in London’s Regent Street, I couldn’t help but notice how small the Princesshay Store was in comparison. As you can see from the image above it was pretty busy in there, and the public were allowed in in small groups, as other people left.

Upstairs was full of Mac software and every accessory you can think of for an Apple product as well as the Genius Bar for help and support.

Lots of Accessories

Upstairs - rows and rows of accessories for every Apple product.

The Genius Bar

It’s great being in an Apple store, there is always such a buzz from both customers and staff.. Interestingly there were no cash desks - all transactions were carried out by staff in the red T-shirts who had electronic mobile devices on lanyards around their necks. They would simply scan the product and take your card for payment. Also you can opt for an electronic receipt where its emailed to you instead! Neat. How many times do you loose them anyway? I like forward thinking. Good job Apple!

  1. Got there at 8.30 and there were already a good 300 people ahead of us in the queue (so two t-shirts were destined to be ours :-). Great atmosphere and bonus discovery of freely accessible wi-fi too.
