It’s been a while coming - a new firmware update (v21.0.016) for the original N95 has finally landed. Surprisingly the update was even available for my Carphone Warehouse branded N95, which on previous releases has taken a week or so after the initial announcement to surface.
To check to see if the update is available for your particular N95 head over to the Nokia Device Software Update pages and enter your product code. Don’t worry if there is no update for your handset, keep checking over the coming days/weeks for your operator specific update to be released.
If there is an update for you download the Nokia Software Updater and follow the instructions. Please note that this procedure will totally wipe any content that you have on your handset, so please make sure that you make a backup first!

OK, so what’s new I hear you cry?
- Flash Lite 3 which means that you’ll be able to view YouTube and other Flash enabled websites.
- Widgets are now possible thanks to inclusion of the Web runtime.
- Bluetooth headset compatibility.
- Speed improvements to the Gallery.
- More bug fixes and tweaks.
Now all you need to do is re-install those all important apps.
