The Nokia N78 is the first new Nokia handset to come with S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 - amazingly this was actually announced way back in february 2007!

One of the new features of FP2 is the ability to change the way that your home screen and menus look. You can now change the look of the Home screen or Standby screen from the standard Horizontal Icon Bar to a new Vertical Icon Bar.

Also, you can change the way that icons appear with two new Menu Themes - Horseshoe and V-shaped.

Check out the video below to see these new features in action:

  1. Hey Neil, thanks for putting that video up. I am curious though, can we pick which icons appear on that vertical menu (Shortcuts - Search - Calendar - Music - Radio - Transmitter - WLAN), or can we only choose the items that appear in the Shortcuts pane of that menu?

  2. Rita - As far as I can tell, unless I am missing something obvious I cannot find a way to change the vertical icons. Under Shortcuts you have the 5 shortcut icons (used in standard horizontal mode), but these are not used in vertical mode. Seems a bit odd.
