One of the things missing from Nokia Maps is the ability to alert you to upcoming Speed Cameras, a feature that is common in most other Sat Nav solutions on the market.
One such developer has addressed this solution and created a Speed Cam application for Nokia N95 phones.
While not strictly an add-on to Nokia Maps, the Speed Cam app runs in the background and switches to the foreground with an audio-visual alert when you are approaching a near-by speed camera.

The installation is a little fiddly, after downloading the software, you need to install 5 separate applications:
- The actual Speed Cam app
- a Data Module app
- a Task Switcher app
- An app to interface with the Location API
- Python
The 1st, 3rd & 4th apps need to be Symbian Signed before they can be installed.
Once everything is installed, you will need to get hold of a database containing the locations of the Speed Cameras which you can get hold of from Pocket GPS World for a small fee.
OK, it may not be the ideal solution, but you have a Nokia N95 and don’t mind putting in a bit of effort, it may just be worth it.
Go have a try and let me know how you get on.

I have loaded this on to my Nokia N95-1 but when I try to launch it I get error msg “appswitch module not found”. Is this the appswitch.py file? I have this sitting in C:/python and C:/RESOURCE and E:/SpeedCam.
This looks like just the application I’ve been seeking, if only I could get it to run!
Any ideas?
