Twitter via SMS in the UK

Twitter have teamed up with Vodafone UK to allow customers to send and receive messages as part of their standard monthly text allowance.

Twitter text updates can be sent to shortcode 86444.

Receiving messages to your Vodafone mobile will be free, a first outside of the USA. To celebrate the announcement, for the first few weeks, sent messages wont even come out of your allowance, they will be totally free!

Hopefully other UK mobile operators will follow Vodafones lead now that Twitter has reached the masses.
