That was the verdict of The Gadget Show, as they announced that the Apple iPhone 3G was the must-have gadget of 2008.

    My vote would have been for the N96… I’m kidding, obviously!

    Seriously though, I’d probably agree with the iPhone, simply because of the 10,000 apps on the App Store. I know I keep going on about it, but it really is unprecedented isn’t it, surely the fastest growing computing platform of all time?

    I wonder what will win next year? N97 perhaps?

    James, I was about to comment on the N97 too. Whilst I think that will be an outstanding phone, I can’t see it beating the competition until they sort out the weight issue. These phones are just too heavy for my liking. The iPhone is certainly a catalyst for design innovation, and as such would get my vote this year.
