N95 on O2 Monday 2nd April

I popped into town today – and had to nip into a mobile phone shop to see if they had any news on the Nokia N95.

The Carphonewarehouse was my first port of call.. I was surprised to see a dummy handset secured to the walled display. With that the Sales Assistant came over and asked if I wanted any help. I asked about the N95 (of course) and he smiled and said that it was available on O2 on Monday and that they actually had stock in! As my face lit up he said that although he could show me the handset now – he was not allowed to sell me one until Monday!

The chap disappeared and returned with a the Nokia boxed handset.. He said that he had not actually seen one himself yet and proceeded to open it up for me. The handset was much smaller than I imagined it would be.. It seemed so much less bulky than the N80 that I had for a couple of weeks last year.

The handset appeared to boot in no time (far quicker than my N73) and I was able to play around with it for a couple of minutes while he tried his usual salesman pitch of trying to flog me a contract with O2… Unfortunately he didn’t have any details of other networks that the handset would be available on (as they mainly sell O2 contracts apparently), but did say that it was available sim-free for £500 (ouch!)

I have to say that my very brief encounter with the N95 was fantastic – The slide mechanism seemed very study and the keypad much nicer to use than the N80’s -It just makes me want to have one even more!  I am hoping that it will be coming out on the 3 network very soon!

I really can’t wait to be the owner of one very soon…

Update: I popped into phones4u today – they have them on Orange, and had just sold their last 2 to one person!
