I have been lucky enough to have used the Nokia N78 as my primary handset for a month now (previously my main handset was a N95-1) and it's time for me to conclude my review of the handset.
Regular readers of the site will probably have seen my previous coverage, if not check out my Nokia N78 - unboxing, Pictures and Quick Tour Video, Nokia N78 Sample Pictures, Nokia N78 - New Home Screen & Menu Views, my rant about the tiny keypad, ... Read More

One great feature of the new Nokia N78 (and S60 3rd Edition SP2) is the inclusion of native Access Point Prioritisation. This has to be one of the most desired features of any Nseries handset, especially when its already been available on Eseries handsets for some time.
Previously on S60 3rd Edition handsets, within Settings, you would find an Access Points option under the Connection setting. This has now been replaced with a new option called Destinations:
Here you find find a revamped Access ... Read More

I have to say that my initial good first impressions of the new Nokia N78 handset are starting to turn to frustration. I have been using the handset in anger for the last few days.. and I am getting so annoyed with the keypad design.
As you can see from the photos below, the keypad is ridiculously small on the Nokia N78. If you thought that the keys on the N82 were tiny you haven't seen anything till you try the N78!
The Nokia ... Read More

The Nokia N78 is the first new Nokia handset to come with S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 - amazingly this was actually announced way back in february 2007!
One of the new features of FP2 is the ability to change the way that your home screen and menus look. You can now change the look of the Home screen or Standby screen from the standard Horizontal Icon Bar to a new Vertical Icon Bar.
Also, you can change the way that icons appear ... Read More

Here are some sample photos I've taken with the 3.2 Megapixel camera of the new Nokia N78 in my back garden today. Just for comparison I also took the same picture using a 5.0 Megapixel Nokia N82.
The Nokia N78 pictures are on the left and Nokia N82 on the right. As you can see for only a 3.2 megapixel camera they aren't half bad. One thing that you will notice is that the colours don't seem as bright as those of the ... Read More

Back in February I was lucky enough to be invited to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where I was witness to the launch of two new devices in the Nseries range - the Nokia N78 & Nokia N96.
Well now I am fortunate to be able to share with you hands on access with a pre-sales Nokia N78 handset that has just arrived today.
The sales package for the Nokia N78 I received came with a pair of Nokia MD-4 Mini Speakers which ... Read More

The monster that is Mobile World Congress has come and gone.. and I for one was lucky enough to be able to attend.
So what did people make of the announcements by Nokia?
The N96 - lovely as it is, is really just a refined N95 with some extra bells and whistles.. mainly DVB-H which isn't even available in most countries yet. I understand that when you have a pretty good product in the N95 - you don't need to re-invent the wheel, just ... Read More

Announced last week at Mobile World Congress is the rather nice looking Nokia N78, the replacement for the extremely popular Nokia N73.
Touting a 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS, a 2.4 inch QVGA screen, Music Player with integrated FM Transmitter (a-la iTrip), WiFi, HSDPA and the Navi Wheel for quick access to features.
While its not the powerhouse that is the Nokia N95/8GB and the just announced N96 - it still packs a lot of damn good features into a pretty compact device.
Battery life (the ... Read More
